Education Programme

At the Wendy House Day Nursery our education philosophy is centred around the education of your children and pro activities to ensure we comply fully with the early years foundation stage. Learning and development consists of 6 areas of learning, this is our understanding of these areas and how we try to promote them.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Your child will be provided with experiences and support that will help them to develop a positive sense of themselves and of others; respect for social skills; and a positive disposition to learn. At The Wendy House Day Nursery we ensure that we give support for your child’s emotional well-being to help them get to know themselves and what they can do.

Communication, Language and Literacy

At The Wendy House Day Nursery we pro-actively support your child's learning and competence in communicating, speaking and listening, being read to and beginning to read and write. We provide all children with the opportunity and encouragement to use their skills for a wide range of situations and purposes. We support them in developing their confidence and disposition to do so.

Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy

Children must be supported in developing their understanding of problem solving, reasoning and numeracy in a broad range of contexts in which they can explore, enjoy, learn, practise and talk about their developing understanding. The Wendy House Day Nursery provides the children with ample opportunities to practice these skills and to gain confidence and competence in the use of them.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

Children will be supported in developing the knowledge, skills and understanding that help them to make sense of the world. Their learning will be supported at The Wendy House Day Nursery by us offering opportunities for the children to use a range of tools safely; encounter creatures, people, plants and objects in their natural environments and, in real life situations, undertake practical and work with a range of materials.
Physical Development

The physical development of babies and young children at The Wendy House Day Nursery is encouraged through the wide variety of opportunities for them to be active and interactive and to improve their skills of co-ordination, control, manipulation and movement. We ensure they are actively supported in using all of their senses to learn about the world around them and help them make connections between new information and what they already know. We take care in actively supporting them to develop an understanding of physical activity and making healthy choices in relation to food.
